John James Stringfellow was graduated from Davidson College in 1860. He attended the University of South Carolina and became a pharmacist. He served in the Confederate Army and was wounded during the war. He returned to Chester, S.C. and operated a drug store for 40 years. From the description of Collection, 1858-1930.
